The existing swimming pool and concrete deck were filled in. The complex 60's era concrete work presented a challenge to our designers. A bomb shelter beneath part of the deck needed to remain undisturbed. The existing retaining walls were kept. The pre-existing flagstones were re-used where possible, but otherwise all the stonework is new. The old parterre gardens were lifted and the Boxwoods were re-planted in the gardens along with the new plantings.
Client's requirements:
Fill in existing in-ground pool
Maintain free standing garden walls
Keep existing Boxwood hedges (transplanting)
Classic Urban Formality
Description: The first approach reveals the colourful gardens, bursting with bulbs or annuals depending on the season. The formal central walk is flanked by symmetrical Display Boxes/Urns, and formally-trimmed stands of mature Yews and Boxwoods. The Perimeter Cedar Hedge affords year-round privacy. The terraces have several smaller "rooms", including the Dining Area, the Spa and the Back Lawns.
